British seaside towns reach their zenith in the winter. For me, they contain just the right amount of muted happiness, dreamlike state and mild depression to make them the most compelling places to photograph. I have a thing for visiting Brighton in the winter — the biting wind, empty pier and colourful closed arches — I just dig it. Add to this a fun, recently engaged couple who dig Brighton as much as I do, and we have all the makings of a wonderful photo shoot.

Laura & Nathan met me in front of the old Brighton pier at sunrise, and we worked our way slowly along the beach, taking photos, catching up on news and talking movies, weddings and Youtube food reviews, oh yes indeed.

Anyway, we had fun. And coffee. And lunch. Have a look at some photos from our morning.
